What is it with Johnny Depp and his haunting of Camden?

Why is he always where I am not?

Dear Mr Depp, next time you choose to check out an obscure band in a Camden basement bar, please could you alert the friendly local Press?

No doubt we’re probably drinking right next door, oblivious to your Scarlet Pimpernel ways. Sounds like the Pirates of the Caribbean star spent a nonchalant evening watching The Tricks at Bar Solo on Friday night. We seek him here...

• Urgent reminder – Public Enemy perform their classic album Fear Of A Black Planet in full at HMV Forum, Kentish Town, tonight (Thursday).

• Congratulations to Radio 2 for signing Noel Gallagher to present his own show. I’d rather hear his dry wit over the squalks of Alan Carr any day. But will he be able to refrain from playing too many Beatles songs? I’m hoping he surprises us and digs out an N-Dubz classic.

• Folk-Americana singer KC McKanzie plays The Slaughtered Lamb on September 13 where she will perform tracks from next album, OH!

• The 15th annual Small Faces convention meets for a full day of all things Mod at the 02 Academy Islington on Sunday (Sept 11), from 4pm. The celebrations feature tribute act The Small Fakers performing Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake in its entirety.

• The Old Queen’s Head in Essex Road never ceases to amaze with its diverse programme of hula-hooping, full band karaoke, art events and excellent bands – more about these another time. In the meantime, it seems Pixie Geldof’s new band Violet will play the venue alongside Monument Valley and Alice Gold on Sept 15.
