LAST week we touted SBTV – the online music channel whose HQ is in Mornington Crescent – as the new MTV.

It looks like founder Jamal Edwards and his young team are well on their way.

On Friday, Jamal’s face was plastered all over the YouTube home page and on Saturday the new Google Chrome advert featuring the story of SBTV was aired on prime time TV during X Factor and Big Brother, drawing so many hits the website crashed. Check the team out at www.sbtv.co.uk

• Awful news about Belgium’s Pukkelpop festival. Last year Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’s Charlie Haddon took his life there and this year several festival-goers were killed when a stage collapsed during storms. Former Islington Lib Dem councillor Lucy Watt reported her brother’s band Wolf People had been playing the stage just before the tragedy.

• Almost a year after the loss of Charlie, his former bandmate Caan Capan has gone solo under the name Caan. His debut single is out next month. He plays Koko on August 26.

• Good to see Misfits actor Iwan Rheon isn’t neglecting his beautiful voice. See him at The Bowery (August 27).

• The Old Queen’s Head, Angel, has launched a series of free gigs on Thursday nights starting September 1 introduced by BBC 6Music’s Chris Hawkins. Lonsdale Boys Club and Jake Morley are lined up for the first night along with a rare solo appearance from The Magic Numbers’ Michelle Stodart.

• Could it be? Would they? Has Proud Camden suspended its cool image to play host to X Factor rejects Belle Amie? If not, a band of precisely the same name is listed for September 3 along with Johan Ten Houten and Filthy Few.
