Record Of The Week - iTunes Festival @ Roundhouse
DAVE Grohl simmered, sizzled, and seethed through his Roundhouse set on Monday, creating the biggest headlines of the iTunes Festival so far this month. Grohl came to Camden to rock and that he did, at one point losing his temper at a stripey-shirted offender for fighting in the moshpit.
Undoubtedly the most star-studded set of the festival so far, Bryan May, Roger Taylor and Motorhead’s Lemmy joined the Foos on stage.
Seasick Steve’s set earlier in the month also took the audience by surprise when he brought on Jack White, Alison Mossheart and John Paul Jones.
Linkin Park played a generous set last week, including four encores and also showing Chester Bennington’s mellow side with an unlikely, soulful cover of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep.
While the emo kids camped outside to guarantee entry to My Chemical Romance on Saturday, it turned out the leaders of the reject angst movement had lost their momentum, playing to a less than full venue. Still, the fans who were there were thrilled to be close to their idols.
