LAST week I got stood up by a rapper. To be more accurate, the grime artist who shall not be named was mysteriously unavailable for interview at Friday’s appointed time and so will no longer be the centre of attraction on this week’s page.

But I’d just like to say, you’ve been caught out. While your people were telling me your phone battery was flat, I found you happily tweeting away – so the world was able to contact you after all. Just as well us mere writer types like nothing better than to put our feet on our desks, cancel all appointments and wait with bated breath for five hours in the hope that busy musicians in this world decide to re-establish contact.

You’re not the first and you won’t be the last. Hey, all that research wasn’t wasted, I used it to prop up a wobbly filing cabinet in my brain.

• Classical music is normally reserved for the opposing page, but we’re not averse to a bit of culture on the youthful left hand.

Cafe Muse aims to ditch the stuffy concert halls, swap the stiff uniforms for contemporary fashion and make classical music trendy by bringing skilled musicians to stylish London bars and brasseries, and having a bit of a party.

Friends and pianists Cordelia Williams and Natalie Gourman dreamt up the idea to fill a gap in London’s nightlife.

The next event is at The Forge and Caponata, on Delancey Street on Sunday. Further info from www.cafemuse.net

• This came in a little late for last week but if you follow me on Twitter, you’d have heard in time. Guillemots played a free set at St Pancras International on Wednesday as part of the annual station sessions, a series of free gigs, well worth passing by – I’ve yet to check out the acoustic effect.
