I CAN’T begin to describe the mass of superhero rappers about to descend on Kentish Town on Saturday – the question is, will Method Man and the rest of the Wu Tang Clan head out to Camden first? • Here’s a mystery – the UK Beatbox Championships grand final is on Saturday at 02 Islington Academy, where finalists and a bunch of wildcards will be battling it out for the crown and possibly more – it’s how Lowkey won his name. But a quick glance at the official website says this year’s women’s championships has been cancelled for reasons beyond their control – what’s the big secret?
• If scratching’s more your thing, the London heat of the DMC World DJ Championships is at Jazz Cafe on Friday.
• Isn’t the Roundhouse generous? For a third year the venue and EMI are dedicating the whole month of September to young emerging talent for 30/30. Every day, unsigned artists aged 16-25 can use the Roundhouse’s EMI Live Music studio with top producers, for free.
