THIS is the last week in the reign of Camden’s rock ‘n’ roll Mayor and he’s ended it in style. Jonathon Simpson lived it up at the Camden Crawl, DJ’d the aftershow party, hosted his own night at Camden Barfly and warmed up his vocal cords at a celebrity karaoke night on Tuesday. He told me he’s been offered a number of DJ spots off the back of his grand role – wonder if his successor will try to follow in his footsteps. Shame it has to end – Camden needs a permanent music ambassador.

• Ultra cool London record label Mute has lined up an extraordinary collection of top acts for this weekend’s Short Circuit festival at the Roundhouse (May 13 and 14). Friday’s notables include a Moby DJ set, Richie Hawtin (Minus, Berlin), and a whole list of electronic and techno greats. Saturday’s more eclectic line-up includes Erasure, Josh T Pearson, Liars, S.C.U.M, Beth Jeans Houghton and Depeche Mode’s Martin L. Gore and Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher (DJ sets). Maps and Polly Scattergood will perform a unique collaboration interpreting each other’s songs and there will be a guest performance from Alison Moyet.

• Looks like Moby’s enjoying his time in Camden. After playing Short Circuit on Friday, he returns this time to Proud Camden (May 17) for the joint launch of his 10th studio album Destroyed and new art photography book of the same name. Until June 19, 54 images from the book will be on display at Proud.

• Camden band Revelin Sky formed after a chance backstage meeting at Glastonbury. Debut single Firerain is out on June 28 so catch them beforehand at The Good Ship (May 13), The Dublin Castle (June 2) or Proud Camden (June 24).
