THE curious-looking UFO-like instrument going by the name of the Hang (pictured above) is going to be played alongside a bass-clarinet next Thursday at The Forge venue in Delancey Street, Camden Town.
Manu Delago, one of the most popular Hang players in the world, will perform with music partner Christoph Pepe Auer on bass clarinet and pepephon, a new instrument he’s invented.
The two musicians got together to form Living Room four years, and since then have been exploring the bass clarinet’s huge total range and the Hang’s enchanting sound at concerts around the world.
The Hang was developed by two Swiss engineers in the 1990s and premiered in Frankfurt in 2001.
Its design lets the player connect rhythm effortlessly with melody.
