SONGSTRESS Marion Joseph will be fronting The Fabulations at St Martin-in-the-Fields’ weekly Jazz-in-the-Crypt gig next Wednesday.
The Fabulations’ repertoire ranges from dinner-jazz through to floor-filling dance numbers, from 1940s and 1950s swing classics to soul and disco anthems.
Marion Joseph sings against the backdrop of a band consisting of guitar, saxophone, keyboards, bass and drum, sometimes being extended to include trumpet and additional sax.
Leading musicians to play with the band include Alan Skidmore, Tony Coe and George Shearing.
Other bands to play the Jazz-in-the-Crypt spot will be TJ Johnson’s Bourbon Kick on Wednesday, February 23; Rob Hughes’s contemporary jazz band The London Experiment on Wednesday, March 2; and Christian Brewer’s post-bop quartet on Wednesday, March 16.
