MY inbox is inundated with emails about new bands, the postman’s arms are aching from countless press releases and CDs on their way to Grooves, and this page is permanently battling to contain as much music news as possible.
You can’t walk two metres down Camden High Street without bumping into a singer, drummer or other music-related figure, each hoping for the chance to ply their trade to the masses.
So here’s a glimmer of hope – the chance to rise from obscurity, be treated like rock stars and play before thousands on a stage later to be shared by double denim demons Bon Jovi. Hard Rock Cafe has launched a worldwide search for four of the finest undiscovered bands to join the illustrious bill of Hyde Park’s Hard Rock Calling Festival in June (24-26).
Top choice will play the main stage and the runners-up will play the second stage.
There’s just one week left (deadline Feb 11) to get your entries in for the London round.
Shortlisted entries will compete at Hard Rock Cafe London in March before Starsailor’s James Walsh and a panel of top industry professionals. The London winners will be posted online for the world to judge against heat winners from elsewhere.
