IT won’t be St Valentine’s Day. But that’s no reason why the romantically inclined shouldn’t take the opportunity to hear Michael Collins, one of the world’s top clarinettists, play Brahms’ clarinet quintet in B minor next Thursday (January 27) with the Endellion String Quartet at the Wigmore Hall.
Although the music was composed more than 100 years ago, the quintet is still able to claim hearts in a quite extraordinary way.
And with the clarinet playing of Michael Collins, there’s unlikely to be a dry eye among the WH audience.
Also being played at the concert will be a Haydn string quartet, Janacek’s exuberant wind sextet Mladi and a new Thea Musgrave piece, Towards the Blue, is receiving its world premiere.
