NOT only Dvořák’s great cello concerto but also his popular Ninth “New World” Symphony are to be played on Saturday evening by the North London Philharmonia at St Stephen’s Concert Hall in Pond Street next to the Royal Free Hospital.
The concert is a fundraiser for the St Stephen’s restoration and refurbishment trust which has done such wonders bringing the derelict neo gothic pile back into use over the past few years.
The North London Philharmonia was conceived and founded 12 years ago by Ron Rappoport, a professional conductor living in Finchley.
The orchestra is made up of professional musicians playing for free at two concerts each year to raise money for charities.
Young cellist James Greenfield will be the soloist in the cello concerto.
