Rock and Pop: Coming Up - The Airborne Toxic Event @ Union Chapel

ISLINGTON'S Union Chapel was packed with faithful followers of Californian band The Airborne

Toxic Event on Sunday evening as they spread the word about their new album.

The quintet disguised a cover of Folsom Prison Blues so well with their subtle rock-pop mixture that Cash himself might have found it hard to recognise his tune.

Although the gig was interrupted by an intermission, they came back and put even more energy in, treating fans with acclaimed songs such as Sometime Around Midnight, Gasoline and Happiness is Overrated.

You could sense the great pleasure they have in playing together and they infectiously spread the good feeling to the audience. They swapped and mixed instruments like kids with toys – Noah Harmon playing his bass with a bow! “People seem to be happy when they come to our gigs, though our songs are f****** sad. Oops sorry for saying that in such a place,” said frontman Mikel Jollett.”
