THERE’S a fund-raiser for Burgh House, Hampstead, this Sunday afternoon when young British pianist Min-Jung Kym is returning to play music by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Debusy.

A year ago, she got a strong reception when she played at the successful fundraiser for the early 18th-century house in New End Square maintained and managed without public subsidy.

Born in Korea, Min-Jung came to this country at a young age and joined the Purcell School as a scholar.

She made her London solo concert debut at the age of 12 with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall. Since then, she has won numerous awards and prices and played with orchestras and given recitals all over the world.

Hampstead pianist John Lill has praised her playing, saying “she creates the music freshly and naturally, yet with spontaneity and mastery”.
