THE Finzi Quartet are giving an interesting concert at Lauderdale House, Highgate, next Tuesday evening to raise funds for Disability and Development Partners, the international charity based in Camden Road, Islington.
Being played are Haydn’s String Quartet Op 20 No2 in C minor; Bridge’s Three Idylls; and Brahms’s String Quartet Op 51 No1 in C major.
Most unusually, the quartet’s four instruments are made from the wood of a single tree by Paris master-maker Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in 1863.
While each instrument has outstanding character in its own right, played together they sound as one, radiating a powerful blended energy.
The instruments are on loan from the Swiss Global Artistic Foundation.
