THE Gemini Ensemble led by virtuoso clarinettist Ian Mitchell is giving a concert on Tuesday at Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel, Hampstead, to raise funds for Musicians Against Nuclear Arms (MANA), the campaigning organisation.

Musically, the concert is notable for the London premieres of two pieces: Huw Watkins’ Double Concerto for clarinet, cello and piano; and Nicola LeFanu’s The Tongue and the Heart for soprano and cello. The programme also includes works by Beethoven, Walton  and Mozart.

l Hampstead cellist Gemma Rosefield is giving a recital in Hampstead Garden Suburb on Sunday to raise funds for the Akili Trust that works to promote literacy in rural Kenya. Her programme will include local composer David Matthews’ three Journeying Songs, the third of which was written for her. She has performed with the Nairobi Symphony Orchestra and given masterclasses in Kenya, hence her interest in supporting the trust.
