AS if Camden didn’t have enough “places to be”, Blues Kitchen is stepping up with a bill of extravagant, underground nights. Take the bank holiday weekend, when Rock ’n’ Roll Circus rolls into town on Sunday, featuring live music and some weird and wonderful big top acts.
Expect the eclectic with music from east London rock’n’roll five-piece The Fabulous Penetrators, rhythm and blues foursome King Salami and The Cumberland Three, 60s garage and soul band Fancy Lady, award-winning blues vocalist Big Joe Louis and trashy blues from one-man-band Dollar Bill.
And if the music isn’t enough to tantalise the senses, we’re promised some “eye-popping” circus acts – whatever that means.
Presiding over the events, a circus ringmaster, will introduce a daredevil fire-eater, a rubber-limbed contortionist, and London’s strongest man, while there will be some smooth moves from Go-Go dancers.
• The Blues Kitchen Rock ’n’ Roll Circus takes place on Sunday May 30 from 5pm-3am, free entry all night.
