• Over and over and over and over.... Hot Chip’s to blame for the broken record in my head. So I’m off to Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes (Jan 30) where they’re doing a live DJ set to tell them in person. Early bird entry is only a fiver so come join me.
• On to something a bit harder. UFO shredder extraordinaire Vinnie Moore, the world-renowned guitarist will play only one show in the UK this year and he’s chosen Camden’s ubiquitious rock venue the Underworld. Watch him at his finest on Feb 17.
• Alison Moyet, Wilko Johnson and Blockheads Norman Watt and Dylan Howe will give a special live performance at the showing of Oil City Confidential, Julian Temple’s latest music documentary in his trilogy of British music of the 1970s at a red carpet event at Koko on Feb 2. If you can't get a ticket it’s being screened simultaneously in cinemas across the UK.
• Geordies Detroit Social Club play Cargo on Feb 18. Their single Sunshine People was a former Record of the Week and their eagerly anticipated album is due out in spring.
• Loving that Wolfmother are supporting Pearl Jam at this year’s Hard Rock Calling – let the battle of the gruff voices commence.
