CAMDEN Roundhouse has set up its very own independent record label and has already started signing artists.
Roundhouse Records launched on Tuesday this week with an exclusive showcase of talent at the venue’s Studio Theatre, as part of the ongoing iTunes Festival.
The first acts added to the Chalk Farm venue’s brand new label stunned visitors with their skills.
Hella Better Dancer (pictured), described as a young PJ Harvey, one-woman band Ghosts You Echo, London-Tokyo-Berlin mash-up Ken Kobayashi and Congolese hip-hop, soul and rock act Tresor each performed a short set alongside spoken word artists Indigo Williams and Sean Mahoney, streamed live via the Roundhouse’s website.
Roundhouse Records plan to release a series of EPs in 2010, all recorded, produced and mixed in the Roundhouse Studios, whilst supporting artists with industry contacts, marketing advice and offering unique performance opportunities.
All profits will go straight back into funding future releases.
