A COUNCILLOR of “rare integrity” has been honoured with a memorial in the heart of Soho.
Friends and family of Ian Wilder attended the plaque unveiling in Meard Street on Tuesday afternoon – yards away from the house his grandparents lived in after emigrating from Poland in the early 1900s.
Cllr Wilder represented the West End ward for more than 15 years until his death last year.
His son David said it was a wonderful tribute to his dad. He added: “The plaque is a testament to his rejection of apathy and challenge to the status quo.
He wanted to make the lives of people living and working in the area better.”
