WHO said flower power was dead? Pupils from Hallfield Primary School in Bayswater helped plant brightly coloured wildflowers in the middle of a housing estate in the area this week, writes Jamie Welham.
Nearly 2,000 flowers were planted in a two-acre meadow on the Hallfield estate, with hundreds of residents getting their hands dirty to help out.
Estate manager Fasil Raja said: “Our aim was to involve the whole community and leave a long-term legacy right in the heart of the estate. The message is simple: please make the meadow yours.”
The project was overseen by the council’s housing contractor CityWest Homes.
