Stick with it! Artist’s hospital message - Artist Ben Wilson Celebrates Victory by Painting on Chewing gum outside Whittington Hospital
Published: 30 April, 2010
ARTIST Ben Wilson celebrated the victory of the Save the Whittington campaign this week (see page 1) and called on politicians to stick to their promises in the way he knows best – by painting a message on a blob of dried chewing gum outside the Archway hospital, writes Emine Sinmaz.
Mr Wilson, who has been creating miniature paintings on discarded gum around London for more than five years, completed two “protest art” pieces outside the hospital yesterday (Thursday), including one which bore the slogan: “Islington Tribune says don’t make a casualty of our A&E.”
When told of the apparent victory for the campaign, he said: “It’s great news. The plan was completely irresponsible and absurd.”
