DECKED OUT in red and white, children at St Dominic’s Primary School in Gospel Oak showed off their favourite dance moves on Friday to celebrate St George’s Day.

Learning mentor Karne Murphy said the disco was staged to help children celebrate the many cultures that make up England.

She added: “The children love the story of George and the dragon but we’ve also been telling them about the real St George, who was Turkish and a Roman soldier and stood up to his superiors about the treatment of the Christians at the time. It’s a great message for them.”

Headteacher Ashley Streeter added: “The kids came up with the idea for the disco themselves.”
