THE man accused of murdering convent school girl Jessie Wright failed to gain his freedom on Tuesday as he awaits trial.

Old Bailey judge Richard Hone QC threw out a bail application by lawyers for Zakk Sackett, believed to   have been a friend of the dead teenager.

Sackett, 19, of Outram Place, Islington, will remain in custody until at least June 14, when he will be asked to enter a plea to the murder indictment. His trial will go ahead in autumn.

Popular 16-year-old Jessie lived on the Bemerton Estate near King’s Cross station. Her body was found in a yard off Outram Place on March 4. She had been strangled.

Jessie was a former pupil of Maria Fidelis Convent School in Somers Town.

Fellow students joined her close-knit family members and friends in a march through local streets to honour her.
