DAVID Miliband has urged members of Islington Chinese Association to vote Labour because the party is determined to stand up for people whatever their background.
The Foreign Secretary said the government was proud of the links it had forged with the Chinese community at home and abroad.
He fielded questions on issues ranging from nuclear disarmament to Tibet and immigration policy from about 50 members of the ICA and Chinese press, at the ICA headquarters in Hatchard Road, Archway, on Tuesday. He said: “There has been a lot of investment and support to the Chinese community, organisations and small businesses.”
It was the first visit of a foreign secretary to the Islington North constituency, according to Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn. He said of the ICA: “This centre does fantastic work. It is something we should be very, very proud of.”
