Crossing on the way?

• IN December and January, the Green Party took a petition around calling on Islington Council to provide a new pedestrian crossing across Drayton Park, near the junction with Martineau Road, as recent years have brought hundreds of new homes to the street, as well as major new pedestrian links across the Emirates podium.
The petition was well received on the doorstep and Cllr Katie Dawson submitted it to the February council meeting. I’m delighted to report that the proposal has been added to the consultation document for a new Highbury Stadium Area Traffic Management Scheme, and people have until April 23 to respond.
The results will be presented to the new east area committee in May, and all being well the crossing could be in place within the year.
We would like to thank everyone who signed the petition and helped make this happen, and would urge readers to send their comments to the council.
