THERE was plenty of room for candles on Turner Prize-winner Grayson Perry’s birthday cake but he was happy with just one.
The artist, famous for his ornate ceramic vases and cross-dressing, picked Finsbury Town Hall to host his 50th birthday party – celebrated by his wife Philippa, artist and sculptor Andrew Logan, author and columnist Will Self and guests
Mr Perry, who lives in Islington, made his entrance in a pink diamante creation, cloaked in a see-through negligee, which onlookers described as reminiscent of Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Ever the showstopper, he later changed into an embroidered sunset A-line dress.
Finsbury Town Hall, now home to performing arts college The Urdang Academy, has become a favourite party venue since reopening its doors three years ago.
