Why ban this boy?

• I AM distressed by what I consider the insensitive treatment by his school in banning my 10-year-old son from the year-six trip to France.
My son and his classmates had their enthusiasm built up with photos and information about the trip. Parents and children were told of the benefits and the bonding and building of confidence which it would provide.
Parents were made to sign an agreement that the headteacher could refuse permission for a child to go on the trip if they displayed any extreme behaviour in the months running up to departure in May.
All are going – except, it appears, my son. He may not be a complete angel (who is?) but he is a decent lad and I feel he has not done anything that warrants such a huge and distressing punishment.
He is a likeable lad (although I accept he has had problems with one or two children and I believe one teacher). Also, he was fine on the school trip two years ago and has never been any problem on any of the numerous visits to theatres and museums.
Occasionally, things do get to him but there’s always a reason and he calms down quite quickly.
I feel the school has been very hard and unreasonable. My son is not a safety risk and I am confident he would behave himself in a foreign country. I have even offered to pay for myself to go along with the group to help out.
