HE may have ended the Emerald Isle’s World Cup dreams, but Arsenal footballer Bacary Sagna got a warm reception when he dropped into the Irish landlord Pat Logue’s pub on Saturday night.
The £7million full-back, who was involved in the build-up to the controversial qualifier goal that had the Irish Justice Minister calling for a replay, was at The Sheephaven Bay sports bar in Mornington Crescent after helping the Gunners beat West Ham at the Emirates for an interview with French media.
The 27-year-old chatted with fans and signed shirts, but stopped short of apologising to Pat Logue for spoiling his summer.
Mr Logue said: “I shook his hand but said I couldn’t forgive him. He didn’t mind doing a bit of mingling and it was good that he came here straight from the match – not that I’m an Arsenal fan or anything.
“He came to do an interview. The company wanted somewhere with a good football atmosphere.”
