Prison for thief who drugged victims with liquid diazepam
Monday March 22, 2010
A THIEF who drugged his victims after chatting them up in bars has begun a six year jail sentence.
Nicolai Radu, 27, was convicted of administering drugs and theft at Blackfriars Crown Court on Thursday.
He persuaded men he met in bars to take him home with them where he would use liquid diazepam to drug them.
The first offence was last July when a 31 year-old man was befriended in a bar in Rupert Street, Soho.
The victim took Radu back to his home in Camden Town where he blacked out after being spiked with the drug. Radu escaped with the man's passport and bank cards. Similar complaints were later investigated in Haringey, Camden and Westminster. One victim was drugged and found his stolen bank cards had been used to rinse his account of £2,000. Radu was convicted of four thefts, which included the stealing of "designer belongings" from a hair stylist he met on the dancefloor of a Soho bar. Radu was arrested after a covert operation at the KU Bar in Soho last October.
