A MYSTERY buyer has snapped up the Screen on the Green cinema, just days before it was due to go up for auction.

The Everyman Cinema group put the iconic Upper Street cinema up for sale with a guide price of £1.4million but, the Tribune has learned that it was sold for “substantially more”.

Auctioneers Jones Lang LaSalle said the buyer bought a second cinema in Winchester, which was also owned by the Everyman Cinema, who plan to continue to rent Screen on the Green for the next 25 years. The cinema, which recently underwent a £250,000 refurbishment, has alo just announced a series of stand-up comedy nights.
