DANCE skills must run in families. Camden aunt-and-niece team Chardonnay Jinadu, 7, and Nevaeh Williams, 5, scooped silverware in an international dance contest in Yorkshire in which more than 1,000 children took part.
The girls have been learning freestyle dance at Thanet Youth Club, off Queen’s Crescent, Kentish Town, for just six months. They beat 60 other dancers to clinch first place in their respective beginners’ categories.
Chardonnay was overall winner in the beginners’ category.
Thanet dance teacher Derek Purcell said: “For Chardonnay and Nevaeh to go to their first competition and do so well is amazing.”
The girls are due to compete in a more advanced competition – the Tower Ballroom Championship in Birmingham – next week.
