Privatisation

• IT’S plain wrong to say that the Lib Dems have championed NHS privatisation, as Cllr Adrian Oliver claims (Letters, March 4). The local Labour MP, when Health Secretary, set up the bureaucratic primary care trusts that are pushing through privatisation.
The Lib Dems would put those using services in charge. It’s unlikely that people owould think that forking out £158m to private firms for work worth £32m to do up Whittington was a good idea. Neither would they think that to then withdraw services was a good plan. The bureaucrats Labour’s put in charge seem to think that wasting money meant for frontline services, and then cutting those services, is a very good idea indeed.
