Tributes paid to Jessie Wright, 16, as police launch murder inquiry
Friday March 5, 2010
MURDER squad detectives have named a 16 year-old girl found dead in a yard next to a block of flats in King's Cross as Jessie Wright.
They are trying to piece together her final movements and want to speak to anybody she was in contact with. Jessie's body was discovered by workmen in Outram Place, near the disused York Road station, yesterday afternoon. She was a former pupil of Maria Fidelis Convent School in Somers Town. Classmates left flowers and tributes at the scene today, while more than 600 friends joined a tribute Facebook group and left R.I.P. messages.
Scotland Yard said it was keeping an "open mind" over the circumstances of the case. A 19 year-old man was arrested this morning and was being questioned this evening.
Jessie was last seen late on Wednesday evening and police want to find out where she had been and where she was going.
Anybody with information should call the Incident Room at Barking on 020 8345 3985 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
