THE Town Hall’s personnel chief has stepped down after an investigation into claims of bullying and financial mismanagement concluded no disciplinary action would be taken.

Islington Council would not confirm if head of human resources Maria King, who was suspended from her £100,000 post in December, would receive a pay-off.

It is understood an independent investigation was launched following a number of complaints from staff.

A Town Hall spokeswoman said: “The council’s director of human resources, Maria King, is leaving the council on February 28, 2010. Since taking up her role in 2002 Ms King has transformed the quality and standard of human resources and organisational development at Islington Council. She leaves by mutual consent.”

Richard Mycroft, former Head of HR at Merton Council, who was brought in as temporary replacement, will remain until the post can be filled.
