Will nannying put paid to my Pimm’s in the square?

• DOES Westminster Council want to turn Soho into Surbiton?
Soho Square looks better with its renovated hut but, with horror, I also now see a new edict on shiny new signs: a crossed-out wine bottle and glass. The consumption of alcohol in the square is now banned! Why?
I drank there quite happily last summer. I even drank there with Westminster city councillors.
What has happened to stop us being treated as adults this year? Why the nannying? Oh, I hate to think I have drunk my last plastic beaker of Pimm’s in Soho. What’s left of Soho, anyway.

Don't they want our pink pounds any more? not happy with the social vibe we bring to the area? A lot of people are getting very unhappy with the way that our outside areas are being managed. Generations of Londoners, tourists and local works have enjoyed the odd drink in the Square - so why ban it now?
Hear hear

I saw no consultation on this change.
Drinking on the streets is already banned.
We need this decision reversed, or we shall be Martini Martyrs!
