IT might may not be a chart topper - but the New Journal and Islington Tribune can reveal that the protest song "Casualty" is already a smash hit with campaigners fighting to "Save Our Whittington".
Dave Plummer, secretary of the Defend Whittington Hospital Coalition, wrote and sung the lyrics about the struggle to save the Accident and Emergency department from closure.
It includes the chorus:
Don't make a casualty out of our A&E,
Don't try to fit us all into the Royal Free.
Not saying nothing's wrong with the Homerton,
But we need an A&E at the Whittington."
Protest organisers said they would sing the song during the march from Highbury Corner to a rally at the Whittington Hospital from midday on February 27.
