Egg-cellent! Sand Dragons fire Brookfield pupils’ imaginations

THEY came from outer space... or perhaps it was the staffroom. Regardless of how these mysterious giant eggs appeared in the playground at Brookfield primary school this week, the children have been writing about what could possibly inside – and where they may have come from.

The appearance of the mysterious eggs has been part of a Writing Week held at the Highgate Newtown school. The children have written stories inspired by the unexplained appearance, which pupils have agreed are rare Sand Dragon eggs.

The work produced will be published in the school’s annual magazine, The Brookfield Buzz.

Biographer Hunter Davies took a lesson on football writing – and caused a stir when he showed Wayne Rooney’s school report to pupils.

Headteacher Mark Stubbings said: “It has been an inspiring week. They have written about where the eggs came from and what they are. It has really fired their imaginations.”
