Unwelcome barbecues on a sunny afternoon

Published: October 6, 2011

• ON Sunday afternoon, with the weather bring unseasonably hot, I sat down in my armchair to rest.

I wasn’t feeling too well. I soon became aware of a foul and  acrid smoke, drifting in a gentle, drifting breeze:
It was from a neighbour’s barbecue.

It’s time this sort of thing was seen for what it is: anti-social behaviour, which should be banned in built-up areas, as it can trigger all sorts of health problems for people with certain medical conditions.
