Hampstead Health Shop boost comes day after support vigil

CUSTOMERS of a high street store held a candlelit vigil on Monday night.
It came just hours before the Hampstead Health Shop in Hampstead High Street was given a two-month reprieve in court the following day. It is facing legal action over unpaid rent by landlord Prudential Pensions Limited.
The case was adjourned until November.
The shop has become a symbol of resistance among campaigners who fear for independent stores on high streets with only big chains able to afford rising commercial rents. The Heath and Hampstead Society is advising owner Surya Jasani on how to proceed with her campaign to stay open.
