Neuro-science development in balance - conservation and Neighbourhood Watch groups oppose proposal

BRAIN scientists could have a new base in the heart of Fitzrovia if Camden Council’s planning committee approve a new a set of laboratories

The University College London and Wellcome Trust proposal would see a 1950s building on Cleveland Street knocked down and replaced with an eight-storey research centre, specialising in neuro-science.

But the plans face opposition from the Bloomsbury Conservation Area Advisory and the Howard House and Cleveland Street Neighbourhood Watch.

The Charlotte Street Association say they support the development in principle but believe a planned open space for the site is too small. Camden officials were expected to decide last night (Thursday) whether to give the plans the go-ahead.
