Two weeks in a box to highlight child trafficking - Phil Knight to raise awareness for Helen Bamber Foundation
A CAMPAIGNER against child trafficking is preparing to make his point by locking himself in a sea container outside Euston station for two weeks.
Phil Knight is raising awareness for the Helen Bamber Foundation about the inhumane conditions victims have to endure.
The 27-year-old musician will have just one tin of food to see him through the endurance test, a diary and his beloved drum sticks. “My mission in life is to stop human trafficking and I will do whatever it takes to make this happen,” he said.
Mr Knight will be shut off from the outside world in the big blue sea crate on July 25, living with hardly any light. His ordeal will be broadcast Big Brother-style 24 hours a day on the charity's website www.justenoughfortherealworld.com.
The stunt has echoes of when American illusionist David Blaine suspended himself in a glass box by Tower Bridge for 44 days without any food.
Mr Knight, who lives in Chingford, organised the “Drums for Life” campaign in 2009 when he drummed for four-and-half consecutive days in Leicester Square.
He will release his fund-raising single, Everyday, on July 25 to coincide with the start of his endurance test.
