A PENSIONER is set to race her 30-year-old nephew through central London in memory of her son.
The heartbreaking death of epilepsy sufferer Stuart Powell five years ago drove mum-of-five Pam McNally to take action.
Pam, who lives in Sumatra Road in West Hampstead, will run the British 10k from Hyde Park Corner, along Embankment and back to Whitehall for the second consecutive year on July 10, to raise money for Epilepsy Bereaved.
Thirty-six-year-old Stewart was a huge Arsenal fan, so Pam was delighted when she received a personal letter of condolence from the club’s manager, Arsene Wenger.
Her nephew Warwick Goodall, of Clarence Way, said: “My aunt Pam beat me last time, so this time I’m going to have to prove I can beat her. I’m doing this for my son Stuart,” she said. “I’ll never forget him, and he motivates me. They still haven’t found a cure for [epilepsy], and that's the sad thing.”
Pam and Warwick hope to raise about £500.
