HAIRDRESSERS and cab drivers were given a special reception at the House of Commons, courtesy of MP Emily Thornberry, on Monday.

Ten Islington businesses met the Labour MP for Islington South and sat in on the pensions debate before retiring to a committee room for a “pub quiz” and pin-the-hair-on-the-politician game.

The two professions were brought together after Ms Thornberry’s office scanned the Yellow Pages to find a “random combination” of small businesses.

“I haven’t laughed so much in ages,” Ms Thornberry said afterwards on Twitter. 

Diverse Hair Salon, from Upper Street, won the “pub quiz”.
