A DRIVER from King’s Cross has denied murdering Arsenal fan Sam Fitzgerald, who died from a stab wound outside his Islington local last year.
Anthony Michael Leader, 21, of Sidmouth Street, is due before an Old Bailey jury on November 7. Mr Fitzgerald, 20, who lived with his mother, Kathleen, at Priory Heights, Wynford Road, was killed outside nearby Thornhill Arms on April 14 last year.
The former St Aloysius College pupil was a close friend of murdered Somers Town schoolgirl Jessie Wright.
Mr Fitzgerald had been watching an Arsenal-Tottenham match on TV with friends shortly before he was stabbed. Surgeons at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, battled in vain to save him from internal bleeding.
