FIVE Year 11 pupils at Islington Arts and Media School have beaten stiff competition to win places at the prestigious National Youth Theatre in Holloway.

The NYT auditioned 4,500 pupils for just 500 places on a course offering professional coaching for two weeks during the summer holidays. Students can then audition for the theatre’s productions, which are held throughout the UK. Paul Roseby, artistic director at the NYT, said: “We audition thousands of talented young people all around the UK, so being awarded a place is an achievement that successful applicants should be really proud of.

“Working with Islington Council to deliver regular free workshops for young people has enabled the NYT to discover some really exciting talent in the borough.”
