THE chatter was about politics – and who made which delicious dessert.
Fellow Liberal Democrat councillors and friends gathered at Flick Rea’s home in West Hampstead on Saturday night to celebrate her 25 years as a councillor in Camden.
The event was organised two months ago by the party’s group leader Keith Moffitt and Ed Fordham, last year’s parliamentary candidate in Hampstead and Kilburn.
Cllr Rea, who had cooked up a brandy-flavoured ice cream especially for the occasion, was also presented with tickets for a holiday in Rome – a destination she has always wanted to travel to. “Ever since I’ve known Flick she’s always talked about how much she’d love to go to Rome.” said Cllr Moffitt.
She revealed how she became involved in politics after the 1974 general election.
“I was inspired by it,” she said. “I joined the Liberal Democrats soon after.
“Another reason I got involved in local government was because there were lots of issues that I wanted to see taken care of, that were not being taken care of. They were mostly issues to do with planning and transport.”
