Devon Robins
Devon’s a star in the making
GOLDEN girl Devon Robins was in sensational form at the weekend as members from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club dominated the London Region Championships, which were held at the newly refurbished Crystal Palace 50m pool.
Not only did the talented 16-year-old win gold in the 100m butterfly and the 200m freestyle, but she also cruised to victory in the 800m freestyle despite having never swum the event before.
Devon wrapped up a series of stunning swims by clinching silver in the 400m freestyle.
Director of swimming at Camden Swiss Cottage Dave Hobbs said: “Devon demonstrated what an outstanding athlete she is. She raced lots of events back-to-back over a range of strokes and distances, proving she has the ability to achieve at the very highest level.”
Kat Spooner and Joel Sand also qualified for the National Championships, meaning that Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club will now take a team of 16 youngsters to the competition in the summer, along with the boys’ 4x200m freestyle relay team.
