WOMEN’S FOOTBALL
Premier League
Arsenal 5, Nottingham Forest 0

ARSENAL bounced back from their midweek UEFA Cup exit with a comfortable 5-0 win at home against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
England striker Kelly Smith scored twice as the north Londoners maintained their 100 per cent start to the season.
Rachel Yankey, Katie Chapman and Julie Fleeting completed the scoring.
The win was the perfect tonic for the Gunner Girls following their 6-0 UEFA Cup thrashing by Swedish champions Umea IK on Wednesday.

SE Combination League
Northampton Town 1, Spurs 1

A KIRSTEN Thomson strike saw Spurs salvage a point from their visit to Northampton Town on Sunday in the first of three consecutive meetings with the Midlands club.
Despite the efforts of goalkeeper Ricole Vyse, the home side edged in front midway through the first-half. Spurs felt aggrieved when they were denied a chance to equalise from the penalty spot after Alex Small was bundled over in the box.
Tottenham looked more dangerous after the break and grabbed a share of the spoils when Thomson scored from close range following a goalmouth scramble.
Spurs now face back-to-back home games against Northampton Town, starting this Sunday in the second round of the FA Cup.

Greater London League
Division Two North
Newham 2, Katabella 2

KATABELLA put in a battling performance on Sunday to take a well-earned point from their tough away game against Newham.
The Camden-based Kats twice took the lead thanks to a double strike from Gemma Olds, but the home side twice hit back with equalisers.
In the end the visitors did well to hold out for a point after being reduced to 10 players when defender Jen Berlin was forced off with an injury.

Home Counties League
Hampstead 1, Denham United 0

A SINGLE strike from Kayleigh Brennan saw title chasing Hampstead continue their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Denham United.
