Fish in Heath ponds live to fight another day
• HAVING fished the ponds on the Heath for the past 40 years I have read with interest the stories of fish captures from the ponds over the past few weeks and T McManus’s letter (Fish killers let off the hook, November 15). In none of your reports have I read that any fish were killed.
All the fish fished for on the Heath are put back.
With the exception of some fish and birdlife that have been taken for food unlawfully I have never seen anyone deliberately kill a fish while pursuing a peaceful sport on the Heath.
The fish displayed by Andy Stone on page 7 of the same edition was indeed caught by myself at 23lb in February 2001 and returned alive to grow. MICHAEL WALTON
